Work For My Retirement

“I only remembered I was asked to sign a few documents, and found out that I lost all my savings, my house, and the child custody.”

“My mom passed away when I was 5. My dad married another woman and when I was 8, my dad passed away due to an accident. Since that day, my stepmom was the one who took care of me. I got married on a very young age, my first daughter was born in 1990. After my third child was born, I got divorced. At that time, I didn’t really understand the law. I only remembered I was asked to sign a few documents, and found out that I lost all my savings, my house, and the child custody.

I had nothing except the clothes that I was wearing. I was so desperate, but I knew I had to be strong. At that moment, I met a man who helped me to get out of this situation. He taught me to believe in God and to pray. He is very loving and kind, I feel so lucky he found me, we got married last year.

My husband is Singaporean, thus I started working in Singapore. I work as a cleaner, the company is good and so is the pay. I am happy with my job, I can save for myself and still  send something home for my children in Indonesia. I want my children to get a better education, have a better job, and live a better life, even though they do not want to talk to me anymore. My only focus right now is to work hard and save money for myself. I do not want to be financially dependent to my children when I am old and retired.”
