“One day, when I have enough capital, I want to start my own business and open a small shop in my hometown.”
“Personally, I decided to work in Singapore because I wanted to forget and stay away from someone. Apart from that, I also needed money to support my mom, my younger siblings, and my child. It was a very heartbroken moment to leave my child at a very young age. However, I had no choice. Even until today, he often asks my mom when I will be back and asks my mom to call me.
When I first came to Singapore, I knew no one. I’ve been here for 6 years and now I have a very kind and loving boyfriend. I still stay in my employer’s house though. I work as a domestic helper and I help them out with daily chores. They are very kind but the pay is not that much. I have to save and manage it very well so that it is sufficient for my family.
I am currently saving money for my son’s education, and also for myself. I do not want to be a migrant worker forever. One day, when I have enough capital, I want to start my own business and open a small shop in my hometown.”
